Council Member Paul S. Gawrych was first elected to council in December of 1995 and served until September of 1998. He was later re-elected to council in September 2002, September 2006 and in November 2013. He served as Mayor Pro Tem from 2009 to 2011.
Council Member Gawrych chairs the Education Committee. He also sits on the Recreation and the Transportation Committees of Council.
He is also a council representative on the Charleston Area Transportation Study (CHATS).
Council Member Gawrych is a 1985 graduate of the Citadel with a degree in political science. He is the founder and co-owner of Asphalt Concepts LLC. He resides in Mount Pleasant with his wife Zoe and their two children, Scott and Sophie.
