MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (June 30, 2017) – Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page and the Culture, Arts & Pride Commission recently installed Golden Marsh by local artist Courtney Page (no Mayoral relation) to be displayed in the Mayor’s Office Art Program, which is dedicated to supporting the work of local artists.
Golden Marsh is an acrylic on board depiction of South Carolina marsh scenery. The painting will be showcased for residents and visitors of the mayor’s office until August.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to meet and help promote so many of our vibrant local artists through this program,” said Mayor Page. “Ms. Page’s beautiful marsh scene reminds me how lucky we are to live in such picturesque surroundings.”
Ms. Page has lived in Mount Pleasant for eight years and enjoys creating acrylic landscapes in bold, bright colors. She finds her inspiration in the beauty and calm serenity found in the Lowcountry, and she currently is working on a series of cloudscapes.
“I believe this program is a wonderful way to give exposure to local artists and to showcase the extensive artist community we have in Mount Pleasant,” said Ms. Page.
Ms. Page believes art is a wonderful way to bring any and all communities together, noting that it opens windows for creative inspiration and imagination while also encouraging conversation and bringing important issues to the public eye.
