Town Hopes to Bring Recreation Closer & Make Play More Accessible
Mount Pleasant, SC (August 18, 2017) - What if your children could practice for upcoming games right in their own neighborhood? With this idea in mind, the Town of Mount Pleasant is working to make practice in neighborhood spaces a reality.
The Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation Department is interested in utilizing neighborhood green spaces as shared practice locations for some of its youth sports. Children ages 5-8 are traditionally arranged by schools and neighborhoods and MPRD is looking to work with interested neighborhoods to provide locations for their residents to practice closer to home. All games would continue to be played at Recreation fields
Along with providing more convenient practice locations for parents and coaches the proposed plan also helps reduce traffic by reducing the number of cars on the road going to and from practice. While still in its planning stages, “the concept must go through proper due diligence to determine if implementation is feasible,” says Jimmy Millar, Deputy Director of the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.
Any HOA or neighborhood affiliate interested in participating is encouraged to contact Jimmy Millar at (843)884-2528 or by email at JMillar@tompsc.com.
