Keeping the Town of Mount Pleasant IN MOTION!

  • A swimmer glides gracefully across the water, strong, repetitive strokes propelling her from one end of the pool to the other.
  • A golfer nails a nine iron, turf flying up from the ground as the small, dimpled ball starts its trajectory toward a soft landing on a manicured green.
  • A young ballet dancer stretches the arches of her feet as high as they can possibly go, reaching for the sky and moving gracefully to the soothing sounds of the accompanying music.

These three scenarios have much in common. They represent an important goal of the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department: keeping local residents “in motion.”

Through recreation, a person, community or country can be steered in motion – in a positive, healthy and active direction. We believe that by creating facilities and programs that promote active lifestyles, minds and doors will be opened for the people of Mount Pleasant.

The Recreation Department is a great place to learn, compete and have fun by participating in sports ranging from soccer to football to baseball to swimming and just about everything in between. But the Rec Department also offers a wide range of other activities that stimulate the mind and body and keep area residents “in motion.” Possibilities include music, ballet, fishing, crabbing, gymnastics, cheerleading and much more. There’s fun for the young and for the young at heart as well. Adults can stay active with yoga, tai chi, paddle boarding and boating classes, and more.
