Organizational Charter

Vision:  Engaged young people, empowered to make a better world

Mission: To empower youth through providing the opportunity to serve, develop leadership skills, and grow to become engaged and responsible citizens

Eligibility

Must be a Mount Pleasant resident, currently enrolled in high school (home school included.) The prospective candidate must fill an application. 

**Applications open every May and are due back in June. Interviews are conducted during the month of July**


  • Short answer questions (5)
  • Example: Describe two issues you have noticed in your high school or community that the Youth Council could address. Why do you believe these issues are present?
  • Two References
  • Parent/guardian Authorization
  • Interview and Selection
  • Volunteer Engagement, Verbal & Written Skills, Employment, etc.

This is a leadership opportunity for high schoolers, so interested students are responsible for communicating their interest and questions to the staff liaison.cards 

Responsibilities

The one-year term  will include attendance at all monthly meetings and quarterly service projects; attendance at one Town Council meeting; acting as school representatives for projects and information on behalf of the Youth Council.Grace Canon Youth Council Presentation to Education Committee
