Code Enforcement

Code enforcement is a coordinated effort between the Building Department and the Mount Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD). This ensures that all construction in the Town meets the adopted fire code, building codes, and Town of Mount Pleasant (TOMP) ordinances as well as the State Fire Marshal’s regulations as required in Code of Ordinance Chapter 92 § 92.01 and § 92.02 and Chapter 150 § 150.001. Fire marshals are charged with administering and enforcing codes pursuant to Chapter 33 § 33.10 of the Code of Ordinances.  Building officials are charged with administering and enforcing building codes pursuant to Chapter 150 § 150.097. Code enforcement includes plans review by the Fire & Life Safety Division Chief and building inspections by the Deputy Fire Marshals.
