Police Department Evidence Section
Evidence of a crime is crucial to the successful prosecution of a criminal offense. This evidence can take on many forms and its utility can be lost if it is improperly handled or maintained. The Mount Pleasant Police Department Evidence Section is staffed by evidence / crime scene technicians who respond to crime scenes for the purpose of capturing and preserving evidence of a crime that can be used in a court of law.
These officers and civilians have specialized training in forensics and testify as needed in criminal prosecutions. The unit also secures evidence obtained by other officers and submits same for analysis as indicated.
