Being Mindful this Memorial Day with COVID-19 Reopening Guidelines

By John Greenberg, Mount Pleasant Communications and Marketing Coordinator

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (May 20, 2020) - Businesses across the Town are either preparing to reopen or are continuing to operate within suggested CDC and SC DHEC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our community. Memorial Day weekend is almost here and we are expecting businesses to see a boost in foot traffic. While the Town is wishing businesses a busy weekend, we're also reminding everyone to be mindful.

As businesses continue to operate and/or start back up, it remains critical to both the state's public health as well as our economic health that we all individually and collectively continue to follow guidelines that will minimize the spread of COVID-19. Highlights of these guidelines include avoiding sharing indoor space unless it is essential - in that scenario, employees should be encouraged
to wear masks or cloth face coverings, consider staggering start times for employees, staying at least 6 feet apart, frequent handwashing with soap & water or use of approved hand sanitizers, regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces (door handles, phones, keyboards, etc.), removing frequently touched surfaces that can be removed (for example trash can lids), and increasing ventilation or percent outdoor air where possible.
