MOUNT PLEASANT, SC The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission invites people of the Lowcountry to put on their dancing shoes and get ready for a summer of shagging on the pier! The popular Shaggin’ on the Cooper series kicks off the season on Saturday, April 23 at the Mount Pleasant Pier with live music by The Hot Pepper Band.
Celebrate the arrival of warmer weather with some dancing at Shaggin’ on the Cooper! Bands from Charleston and throughout the state will perform at the end of the Mount Pleasant Pier throughout the season (see schedule below), and the dance floor is open for all ages. Bring a date or meet friends, let loose, breathe in the fresh air and dance the night away. Gates for Shaggin’ on the Cooper open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m.
The Hot Pepper Band formed in Charleston the 1980s, performing as the house band for the Sheraton Hotel in North Charleston. After reuniting with three of the original members, today they continue offering a variety of musical genres including classic rock, beach music, soul and contemporary.

Beverages are available for purchase on site, and food is available for sale at the Mount Pleasant Pier’s River Watch Café. Food and beverages are not included in ticket prices.
Tickets for each event are $10 per person ($8 in advance for Charleston County residents). Space is limited, so advance purchase is recommended. To purchase advance tickets or for more information on these events, call 843-795-4386 or visit CharlestonCountyParks.com.
