MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (April 22, 2016) - Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page and the Mount Pleasant Cultural, Arts & Pride Commission are pleased to announce the beginning of the Mayor’s Office Art Program 2016 season.
“The creative community of Mount Pleasant continues to grow and grow. We are delighted to have local artists display their work in the Mayor’s Office for visitors and residents,” said Mayor Page. “Each piece of work continues to amaze me and I am currently enjoying Pollen in Cypress Swamp, a wonderful work by Rebecca C. Hurwitz, a gifted fiber artist influenced by the colors and nature of the Lowcountry landscape.”
This is the first public display of Pollen in Cypress Swamp for Hurwitz who calls Mount Pleasant home and regularly resides in Toronto, Ontario. After finding the listing for the Mayor’s Office Art Program in the Moultrie News, Hurwitz felt compelled to apply. “It is important for towns to focus on the arts. The arts enrich our lives and bring peace equanimity to the community,” said Hurwitz.
