MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (April 27, 2016) - Many households have medications that are outdated or no longer used because prescriptions change, conditions alter or people simply stop taking them. Also, unlike over-the-counter medications that can be tossed into the trash, prescription medications should be disposed of properly to assure safety and correct handling.
This year, the Mount Pleasant Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency to take back expired medications. Mount Pleasant Police Officers will be at both Wal-Mart locations (1481 N Hwy 17 N and 3000 Proprietors Place) in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
