MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (July 7, 2016) – The Town of Mount Pleasant’s Economic Development Committee recently hosted an outreach meeting at STEM Premier, a booming Mount Pleasant-based software startup focused on building the national technical talent pipeline. Headquartered on Wando Park Boulevard, STEM Premier boasts over 130,000 students from over 13,000 schools nationally on their platform.
“Mount Pleasant is committed to preparing its future workforce for the abundant technical, STEM-based opportunities in our community,” said Mayor Page. “Having STEM Premier call Mount Pleasant home adds yet another link to our STEM pipeline which includes Laing Middle School, a nationally ranked STEM-based middle school, and our Center for Advanced Studies at Wando High School.”
The STEM Premier platform is a constantly evolving online ecosystem assisting all levels of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) talent in identifying career pathways, educators in recruiting top talent, and employers in developing a stable, continuous talent pipeline. The company has quickly scaled nationally through its focus on strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as Project Lead the Way, the ACT Testing Company and the SC Manufacturers Alliance.
“These opportunities to connect with Town businesses are essential to creating and promoting business-friendly policies in Town,” said Town Economic Development Committee Chair, Councilman Mark Smith. “When we surround ourselves by the smart folks who make up our local businesses, great things can happen.” Councilman Smith was joined by Councilman Bob Brimmer and Town staff.
The Business Outreach meeting series is designed to engage with local business leaders to better understand the challenges and opportunities they face to ensure Mount Pleasant remains unequivocally “Open for Business.”
