MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (August 24, 2016) - Would you like to learn more about the planning process in our town? The Mount Pleasant Planning & Development Department is kicking off its Fall Open Enrollment Season for its 2016 Citizens Planning College. The classes are free of charge and will be offered every Thursday in October, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 100 Ann Edwards Lane. The fall semester is limited to about 20- 25 students to allow for personal interaction and lots of question and answer time.
The Citizens Planning College is designed to help citizens learn more about the planning process. Sessions will focus on planning, zoning, building, land development regulations and processes. Town Planning and Building staff will teach these sessions that will provide participants with an understanding of the planning and development process, with a specific focus on Mount Pleasant.
The fall semester is a four-week program taking a more in depth look at the development process and planning initiatives. While the spring sessions focused on zoning and land development processes and regulations; the fall sessions will show students how to apply those regulations and will walk class participants through the development process.
The four sessions include “Planning a Neighborhood,” “Planning a Commercial Development,” “Building Permit to Certificate of Occupancy” and “Planning for Special Projects.”
