MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (November 17, 2016) – The Town of Mount Pleasant rings in the holidays with its annual Holiday Weekend full of good cheer to get everyone in the spirit!
The 17th Annual Holiday Market returns on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion. The 21st Annual Christmas Light Parade and Tree Lighting kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11 on Coleman Boulevard!
The Holiday Market is the perfect place to find unique gifts and homemade goods, offering the locally grown fresh produce, baked goods, hot food and homemade preserves typically found during the Farmers Market regular season, with the addition of handcrafted gifts by locally recognized artisans.
Enjoy live music and kids’ activities while browsing Christmas ornaments, glass work, whimsical holiday crafts, clothing, jewelry and original art including unique woodwork, pottery, paintings and photographs. Be sure to come ready for a photo op with Santa, who always finds time to visit the market!
“The Mount Pleasant Holiday Market & Craft Show provides the perfect opportunity for shoppers to purchase a wide variety of original pieces from talented local artists as well as many delicious food offerings,” said Market Manager Tracy Richter. “As always, admission and parking are free and we welcome all residents and visitors to this unique community event.”
The Christmas Light Parade begins with the Town’s Christmas tree coming to life at 5:30 p.m. with thousands of lights, immediately followed by a spectacular fireworks display and the start of the Christmas Light Parade as beautifully illuminated floats, antique cars and bands march down Mount Pleasant’s main street.
Once again, the Southeast Tourism Society has named the parade a Top 20 Event for the month of December.
“Being honored so many times as a Top 20 Event in our region is a testament to the many community organizations and local businesses who work hard to make our parade such a special occasion,” said Special Events Manager Nicole Harvey. “So many town staff and volunteers put so much heart into making our parade amazing, and they deserve to be recognized!”
Anchoring the Town of Mount Pleasant’s Official Holiday Weekend, the Christmas Light Parade has more than 100 local groups participating in the procession from Shem Creek to Sea Island Shopping Center.
Judges will award cash prizes for ten categories and parade-goers can vote for the People’s Choice award on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #VotetheFloatMP and including their favorite float’s organization name.
