MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (December 19, 2016)- Baking Memories 4 Kids, established in 2012 by cancer survivor Frank Squeo, sells chocolate chip cookies each holiday season in hopes of creating amazing memories for special families throughout the country. As a nonprofit foundation, Baking Memories 4 Kids uses the money raised from these sales to send children with life threatening and terminal illnesses, accompanied by their families, on a week long, all-expense paid vacation to all the Orlando, Florida theme parks. In just four-years’ time, BM4K has already sold over 20,000 containers of cookies and has surprised 40 families, and Thursday, they are doing it again.
Four-year-old Ellison Burns suffers from Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. SMA is a genetic neuromuscular disease characterized by muscle atrophy and weakness. The disease generally manifests early in life and is the leading genetic cause of death in infants and toddlers. Ellie has difficulty sitting up even in her wheelchair and requires breathing equipment to help her small lungs function. And despite all this, Ellie still loves being a kid, splashing through puddles and watching bubbles pop in the air.
Thursday, Baking Memories 4 Kids’ founder Frank Squeo with the help of the Mount Pleasant Fire Department will arrive at the Burns Home to give Ellie & her baby brother a surprise of a lifetime. Please join us this holiday season as we create some Amazing memories for this special little girl and her family.
