[ARCHIVED] Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Announced
MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 19, 2017) - At today’s sold-out luncheon, the Mount Pleasant Business Association announced that it is now the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. The announcement comes on the heels of a new strategic plan and is designed to reflect the current and future operations of the organization.
“Over the past few years, we have reinvented what it means to be pro-business East of the Cooper,” said Chris Staubes, President, Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. “Since the beginning of 2015, we have tripled our membership, making us one of the fastest growing organizations of our kind in the country.”
Currently approaching three hundred members, the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce has a history of responding to the needs of the business community. The organization began as the East Cooper Merchants Association in 1992 to assist local retailers during the off seasons. Subsequent names have included Mount Pleasant Business and Professional Association (1996-2010), and most recently, Mount Pleasant Business Association (2010-2017). Each name reflects a response to increased or changed needs of the local industry.
The Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce recently developed a five-year Strategic Plan, which calls for a new focus on strategic alliances and talent development as a complement to its core functions of business education, networking and support. Businesses across the region looking for an affordable opportunity to network and participate in the greater community are invited to join. A new logo and branding effort is forthcoming, but information regarding membership can be found at www.mountpleasantchamber.org.
