MOUNT PLEASANT (February 17, 2017) – How does planning contribute to the overall development of your community, your safety and your quality of life? These are questions the Mount Pleasant Planning and Development Department staff will answer at their Meet and Greet at Alhambra Hall, 131 Middle Street, from 5 to 7 p.m. on February 23. The public will learn about town ordinances, town initiatives and processes, as well as staff’s role in contributing to the planning and development of Mount Pleasant.
Topics will include flood regulations, the comprehensive plan, the purpose of zoning, impact assessments and impact fees, tree protection, building codes, commercial design review, water quality and drainage and town history and special projects.
New this year will be the Young Citizens station. “The Planning Department is very excited about getting the young people in our community involved in planning. We will have a table set up for our young citizens where they can pick up a questionnaire when they enter Alhambra Hall,” said Planning Director Christiane Farrell. “Children who complete the questionnaire by visiting all stations in the room and answering its questions will be entered in to a drawing for a $50 gift card from the Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.”
The gift card can be applied towards any Recreation Department sports registrations, camps, or other activities. This is a drop-in event and it shouldn’t take children more than 30 minutes to visit each station and answer the questionnaire based on what they learn at each station.
