MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (March 16, 2017) – Mount Pleasant residents looking for a taste of the tropics are in for a treat as the Tropical Smoothie Café, located at 1165 Oakland Market Rd. here, held its grand opening event Tuesday. The café held an official ribbon cutting ceremony with Town of Mount Pleasant Councilman Will Haynie in attendance to commemorate the opening.
“Mount Pleasant is decidedly ‘open for business’,” said Haynie. “Tropical Smoothie will be a wonderful addition to the Town of Mount Pleasant.”
The newest café celebrated the grand opening event with product tastings and special menu deals. In addition, the first 50 guests in line by 7:00 a.m. received free smoothies for a year. In honor of the celebration, the Tropical Smoothie also offered 99-cent smoothies all day.
“Congratulations to Tropical Smoothie Café on their grand opening,” said Mayor Linda Page. “We are thrilled to have their newest location here in Mount Pleasant and look forward to their involvement in our vibrant business community.”
The 1,670 square foot café features the new Tropical Smoothie Café décor package, featuring an island-inspired atmosphere, and is owned by military veteran franchisee, Jeff Walker.
Walker attended the U.S. Naval Academy for his undergraduate degree, and then Old Dominion University for his graduate and MBA program. After college, Walker served our country from 1997 to 2004 as a ranking Lieutenant. He served multiple deployments with the U.S. Navy and is now a proud franchise owner, who continues to serve the community through numerous volunteer programs at The Citadel with his wife.
“Joining the Tropical Smoothie Café team has proven to be a great endeavor for me. It is a unique brand, with a bold, fresh, flavorful menu which is what attracted me to the business,” Walker said.
Known for providing made-to-order, real-fruit smoothies, as well as toasted sandwiches, flatbreads, wraps, salads and more, the Mount Pleasant café is part of a national chain with nearly 550 locations nationwide.
