Posted on: April 6, 2017[ARCHIVED] Drug Take Back Program Kicks-off Today!

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (April 6, 2017) - Along with WakeUp Carolina and CVS/pharmacy, the Mount Pleasant Police Department kicked-off their drug take-back program today at 10 a.m. in the lobby of police headquarters.
As part of this program, the Police Department officially opened its prescription drug take-back box. This is a quantifiable measure of WakeUp Carolina’s impact, its growing voice, and tenacity of founder Julie Lawrence.
“This is an important program for us to be involved in,” says Chief Carl Ritchie. “This take-back box is just one way we are helping stem the prescription pill crisis in our community and our state.”
Residents will be able to drop off any unused or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal at the police department. This take-back box is not equipped to handle liquids, syringes, aerosol cans, or inhalers.
