MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (May 3, 2017) – The Mount Pleasant mobile command center, recently deployed at the Blessing of the Fleet attended by more than 20,000 visitors, showcased a new capital improvement project aimed at protecting life and property.
“When emergencies and natural man-made disasters occur, our mobile command center becomes a vital component of emergency preparedness,” said Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page. “This asset also provides a secure command post during events requiring lengthy emergency management efforts.”
As part of the scope of the project, the $250,000 new mobile command center will include self-contained communications technology. When dispatched to the scene of an emergency, the mobile command center acts as a hub for communications and relays time sensitive information.
Designed to integrate the National Incident Management System (NIMS) within its operations, the mobile trailer improves and promote multi-jurisdictional response. The implementation of the Incident Command System (ICS) offer procedures and preparedness measures to accomplish national security and response objectives.
About the Capital Improvement Plan
The Town of Mount Pleasant Capital Improvement and Asset Replacement Plan emphasizes the Town’s commitment to its capital needs totaling almost $50 million dollars for fiscal year 2018. The Capital Improvement Plan is a five-year plan updated annually. Projects are ranked by the Mayor and Town Council and funding plans are set in place and ultimately approved with each new fiscal year. As most projects tend to span multiple years, funding remains active and is carried forward to each new budget until a project is completed. The Town of Mount Pleasant is committed to funding major transportation and stormwater infrastructure improvements, which combined are 85% of the total CIP budget, along with the continued effort to maintain Town facilities and other assets to create a more sustainable community for citizens.
