Mount Pleasant Recreation Department Recruiting Lifeguards for Town Pools
Mount Pleasant, SC (October 20, 2017) – The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department (MPRD) is seeking candidates for its expanding aquatic lifesaving team. New and experienced lifeguards are encouraged to apply to work at our Park West Pool and R.L. Jones Center Pool.
Employees of the Town of Mount Pleasant, MPRD lifeguards provide a public service to residents and pool visitors alike. Lifeguards, with their specialized training and certification, are an essential element to the success of the Recreation Department. MPRD lifeguards ensure a safe and fun environment at each aquatics location.
While the intrinsic value of lifeguarding is abundant, there are many other advantages to joining the MPRD team. “We work frequently with high schoolers, college students and those looking for part-time work,” says Anna Bronk-Lutz, Aquatics Coordinator. “We work well together within in the team to provide flexible hours for everyone’s schedule.”
The MRPD pools are also closed every Sunday and major holidays. Along with a flexible calendar, the MPRD lifeguard team offers other exciting perks. “Learning how to save lives looks excellent on a resume,” says Bronk-Lutz. “You will learn skills that can apply to many other careers. Also, lifeguarding will keep you in shape! You must be in good physical condition to perform your lifesaving duties.”
MPRD accepts rolling applications throughout the year for lifeguards and water safety instructors. No experience is required and you must be 15 years of age or older to lifeguard. Current certification in Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid are required. Once hired, free training is offered periodically to keep instructors up-to-date on their certification.
