MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (December 11, 2017) – Local artist Ginny Versteegen’s Shem Creek Glow is currently on display in the Mount Pleasant mayor’s office as part of Culture, Arts & Pride Commission Mayor’s Office Art Program, which is dedicated to supporting the work of local artists.
Shem Creek Glow is a beautiful oil on linen featuring boat views against a Shem Creek sunset, which previously was featured in her show, “Sunrise…Sunset” at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery.
Everyday surroundings are Versteegen’s primary inspiration and though she has worked with many media, oil on linen is what she currently enjoys working with most.
“Art has a spiritual connection for me; each painting is a prayer of Thanksgiving for the beauty in God’s world,” said Versteegen. “I am honored to have been chosen to display my work in my home town of Mount Pleasant for this program!”
Versteegen has a degree in Art Education and through the years, she has painted and taught art in the United States and Europe. She also has had work displayed for the City of Charleston and the City of North Charleston.
“I believe the arts unite a community in many ways,” said Versteegen. “The arts reflect the health and well-being of the entire spectrum of residents in the community.”
