Mount Pleasant, SC (December 15, 2017) – The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department honored their dedicated volunteers yesterday during the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner held at historic Alhambra Hall.
Throughout the year, the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department utilizes the help of over 1,600 volunteers. These diverse volunteers range in age from high school students to seniors. With various events and programs for children to adults, volunteers work in every division. The abundant service opportunities range from coaching developmental soccer to assisting the café staff at the Senior Center.
“Without our volunteers, many of our programs and services would not be possible,” says Steve Gergick, Recreation Director. “The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is a small token of our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.”
A night of fun and gratitude, the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is also an opportunity to recognize those whose service to the Town of Mount Pleasant truly stood out during the year. The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to one individual representing each area of the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department: Athletics Division, Programs Division and the Special Events Office.
The following Volunteers of the Year were chosen for their service to the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department:
- Athletics Division: Adam Johnson (Baseball)
- Program Division: Bill Moss (Mount Pleasant Senior Center)
- Special Events Office: Jennifer Magwood Ray
The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department offers opportunities to volunteer all year long. Coach a children’s sports league, work a Town event, volunteer at the Senior Center and so much more.
