Charleston County Government will resume normal operations on Monday, Jan. 8. The Charleston County Emergency Operations Center will move back to OPCON 4 at 5:00 p.m. today. The Charleston County Citizens Info Line (843-746-3900) will close at 5:00 p.m.
Winter Safety:
· Weather forecasts call for freezing temperatures during the nighttime hours. Ice on roads could still be present overnight. Even at temperatures above freezing, if the conditions are wet, you might encounter ice in shady areas or on exposed roadways like bridges. Please use extreme caution if you must travel.
Please note these County closings and information:
· County Council scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 4 is cancelled and will be rescheduled at a future time.
· Charleston County Recycling
o Curbside recycling will resume regularly scheduled routes on Monday, Jan. 8. If your pickup was missed due to the winter weather, collections will return during your next scheduled pickup day. Recyclables may be dropped off at any time at Convenience Center locations beginning Monday.
o The Bees Ferry Landfill will be open Saturday, January 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
· Charleston County Public Libraries
o All Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) branches and book drops will remain closed Saturday, Jan. 6. All library programs are canceled, and meeting rooms will be closed for any meetings booked by community groups.
o Main Library will open during regular operating hours Sunday, Jan. 7, and all branches will resume normal schedules Monday, Jan. 8.
o Book drops will be unavailable while branches are closed, and patrons should not leave items outside the book drop. Any unsecured items left will be the responsibility of the patron. Overdue fines will be waived while branches and book drops are closed.
