PROJECT
The Town of Mount Pleasant (Town) proposes to construct a new roadway from US Highway 17 North to Rifle Range Road (S-51), approximately parallel to and between Hamlin Road (S-504) and Six Mile Road (S-921). At the northern end of the corridor, the project would begin at a new intersection with Long Point Road and US Hwy 17 North. The project would terminate at a new intersection on Rifle Range Road. The purpose of the project is to enhance mobility for vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic and add capacity to the Town's transportation network.
MEETING
A public information meeting will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Christ Church located at 2304 North Hwy 17, Mount Pleasant, SC. The meeting will have a drop-in format with displays for viewing, informational handouts, and comment forms. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and provide comments regarding the proposed improvements. Project information, including meeting materials and comment forms, will also be available on the Town website at www.tompsc.com. A formal presentation will not be given at this time, nor will formal verbal comments be taken. In the future, if an official Public Hearing is held, citizens will have the opportunity to make formal verbal comments.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this public information meeting is to provide an opportunity to review and discuss individually, with representatives from the Town, the proposed improvements to Long Point Road. Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization regarding historic or cultural resources in the area. Personnel from the Town will be available to answer questions and discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.
