MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (April 27, 2018) - Mount Pleasant Fire Chief Mike Mixon and Deputy Fire Chief Craig Oliverius yesterday held a Lifesaving Awards Ceremony at Town Hall Municipal Complex to honor Company 504 for their lifesaving efforts when responding to a cardiac arrest emergency call.
On April 5, Rescue 504 (composed of Captain Andrew McIver, Engineer Kenneth Franks, Firefighters Hezekiah Washington and Brian Adams) joined Squad 504 (composed of Engineer Randy Dahlman and Firefighter Karl Knipp) in administering comprehensive advanced life support (ALS) care to a middle-aged man in full cardiac arrest. Within three minutes, the patient showed signs of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). The patient survived and returned home seven days later.
For their heroic and lifesaving actions while responding to an emergency call, Rescue 504 and Squad 504 staff, led by Battalion Chief Steven Drozd, were awarded the Town of Mount Pleasant Fire Department Lifesaving Award.
