MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (Nov. 15, 2018) – The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department is honored to announce the 2018 Volunteer Appreciation Dinner December 6 at 6 p.m. at Alhambra Hall here.
This dinner will honor those dedicated volunteers who tirelessly donate their time and efforts to various programs in the Mount Pleasant area.
The Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation Department utilizes the help of over 1,600 volunteers throughout the course of the year to provide programs and services that otherwise would not be possible. These volunteers range in age from high school students to senior citizens. Due to the various events and programs for children and adults, volunteers can work in countless areas. The service opportunities range from coaching developmental soccer to assisting the café staff at the Senior Center.
“Without our volunteers, many of our programs and services would not be possible,” says Steve Gergick, recreation director. “The volunteer appreciation dinner is a small token of our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.”
A night filled with community and fun, the volunteer appreciation dinner is also an opportunity to spotlight those whose service to the Town of Mount Pleasant truly stood out during the year. The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to one individual representing each area of the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department: Athletics Division, Programs Division, and the Special Events Office.
The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department offers opportunities to volunteer all year long. Volunteers can coach a children’s sports league, work a Town event, volunteer at the Senior Center and so much more.
