MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (Nov. 19, 2018) - The Town of Mount Pleasant is accepting submissions for its new Art on the Half Shell project, which will feature four-foot fiberglass oyster sculptures painted by local artists.
Presented by the Town's Culture, Arts and Pride Commission, this project will debut with five sculptures at Memorial Waterfront Park. The goal is to feature the art throughout town as an additional way to foster community pride through the arts while also promoting local artists and Mount Pleasant’s unique creative community.
“Art on the Half Shell is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our local artists and unify our town through art,” said Councilmember G.M. Whitley.
To apply, Mount Pleasant artists must submit the art concept they would paint on the sculptures along with the completed application. The application and guidelines are available on the CAP web page at www.tompsc.com or via email from Nicole Harvey at events@tompsc.com.
