MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (Nov. 4, 2020) – The Medical University of South Carolina will begin a weekly pilot program aimed at testing customer-facing workers for COVID-19. A customer-facing role is one where an employee interacts directly with customers, typically in person.
Weekly testing will begin on Friday, November 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Medical University of South Carolina’s drive-through testing location, 2060 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., in the parking lot outside the Citadel Mall. Anyone wanting to be tested will be tested during this dedicated timeframe. Employees seeking testing are reminded to wear a mask. There is no preregistration or appointment needed and patients can be tested with or without symptoms. Results will be available within 1-2 days.
Bring a valid picture ID and insurance card if available. MUSC will bill the insurance carriers for the procedure. Patients with deductibles or no insurance will not receive a bill and there will not be a cost to the individual. Individuals under 18 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
The testing will continue every Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Based on the volume of workers seeking testing, the program could be expanded to other days and times.
The Town of Mount Pleasant and MUSC encourage customer-facing workers to receive weekly COVID-19 testing. Weekly testing protects a community of workers with a heightened amount of risk. Employees, in turn, support the economic recovery of local businesses and enhance consumer confidence.
