Captain Blair Martin retired from the Mount Pleasant Police Department after 25 years of service.
Blair Martin was promoted to the rank of captain in 2015 and leaves the department as the bureau commander of the investigations office after previously working as the field operations commander.
Martin joined the department in March of 1997 and developed a passion for investigative and narcotics work. In 1999 he became a narcotics
detective and during his time in that role, he excelled at working undercover and assisted several surrounding law enforcement agencies. From 2000 to 2004 he served as a member of the Charleston Area DEA Taskforce. In 2005, Captain Martin was promoted to the rank of corporal in the patrol division where he worked until being promoted to sergeant where he led the criminal investigations office from 2007 to 2011. In 2011, he was promoted to lieutenant and worked as a patrol watch commander until his promotion to captain.
It would be impossible to calculate how many lives and careers Captain Martin had a positive influence on over the past 25 years. In addition to his leadership and influence, he served our county in the United States Marine Corps, graduated from the FBI National Academy, served on our SWAT team as a sniper, and was part of the leadership that created our mobile field force team.
Captain Martin has been recognized with our department’s Investigator of the Year and Supervisor of the Year awards and has received numerous letters of commendation from citizens and other law enforcement agencies praising his dedication and professionalism.
Thank you, Captain Blair Martin, for 25 years of service to our community, agency, and the law enforcement profession.
