MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (May 16, 2023) - A memorial has been unveiled at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park as a tribute to Officer Vaughn Ed Kee. Officer Kee paid the ultimate price while serving and protecting the Mount Pleasant community in 1985.
A dedication ceremony was held Monday morning where Officer Kee's brother and sister in law, Mayor Will Haynie, Mount Pleasant Police Chief Mark Arnold, Town Councilman and former Chief Carl Ritchie, along with others, gathered to honor the memory of Officer Kee through prayer, remarks, and poetry.
Police personnel from neighboring municipalities, also attended the ceremony to stand in solidarity with the Town of Mount Pleasant and its first responders.
The statue honoring Officer Vaughn Ed Kee will reside at Memorial Waterfront Park, where community members and visitors can pay their respects and reflect on the courageous legacy he leaves behind. It will stand as a symbol of gratitude, recognizing the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers who bravely protect and serve our community every day.
