MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (July 20, 2023) - Mayor Will Haynie will proclaim July 25 as CTNNB1 Awareness Day in the Town of Mount Pleasant.
CTNNB1 Syndrome is a rare, genetic, neurodevelopmental disorder caused by changes in the CTNNB-1 gene.
Those affected by the disorder suffer from a range of symptoms of varying severity including intellectual disability, developmental delays, abnormal muscle tone, vision impairments, sleep issues, and behavioral issues.
As part of a larger effort to support and give hope to families impacted by the syndrome, raise awareness of CTNNB1, and encourage scientific and medical professionals to support the continued research of the disorder, Mount Pleasant will observe CTNNB1 Awareness Day annually.
CTNNB1 Awareness Day is sponsored by CTNNB1 Connect and Cure, which supports research, family connections, and ongoing awareness efforts.
